The Ambasador I was a cruise ship owned by the Panama- based shipping company Adriatic Cruises , which was commissioned in 1958 as Jedinstvo for the Croatian Jadrolinija . The ship last used off the Galapagos Islands remained in service until 2004 and was scrapped in Ecuador the following year .

history

The Jedinstvo was built as the last of three sister ships at Brodogradiliste in Split under hull number 132 and was launched on July 1, 1957. After delivery to Jadrolinija in January 1958, it was used for cruises and liner services off the coast of Croatia.

In 1978 the Jedinstvo was renamed Ambasador and sold to Atlas Jugoslavenska Putnicka Agecija, based in Dubrovnik , which had it converted into a pure cruise ship and henceforth used for Mediterranean cruises.

In 1989 the ship went to Dive & Sail Holiday Ltd. based in Panama. Under the new name Aquanaut Ambasador it was transferred to the Caribbean and used there for expedition cruises. 1990 Adriatic Cruises took over the Aquanaut Ambasador and renamed it Ambasador I order. Since 1993, Islas Galapagos Turismos y Vapores SA, based in Ecuador, has owned the ship that is now in service off the Galapagos Islands.

After eleven more years of service, the Ambasador I was retired in 2004 and scrapped in Guayaquil in August of the following year . They outlived their two sister ships by several years: the Hermes was scrapped in Turkey in 2011 , the Jadran in Canada in 2015 .
