Ambros Rueß

Ambros Rueß OSB (born March 5, 1916 in Gabelbach as Karl Rueß; † April 13, 2009 in Neunkirchen ) was a German biologist and abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of Schäftlarn .

Life

Ambros Rueß joined in 1932 the Congregation of Benedictines in the Abbey of St. Stephan at. In 1936 he made his profession , in 1940 he was ordained a priest . He studied biology and became "The macrophyte vegetation of flowing water in the area around Seeon, Chiemgau" in Munich with the work in 1954 his doctorate . At the high school near St. Stephan in Augsburg , the state high school attached to his professorial monastery, he taught biology and geography until 1963 and was prefect at the St. Joseph seminary.

In 1963 he became the third abbot of the Benedictine settlement in the Benedictine abbey to the hll, which was re-established by King Ludwig I in 1866 . Dionysus and Juliana postulated in Schäftlarn ; he resigned from office in 1973 for personal reasons, and was succeeded by Otmar Kranz OSB.

Former Abbot Ambros Rueß found his final resting place in the crypt of his Augsburg monastery.
