Paul Ami Isaac David Bost (born June 10, 1790 in Geneva , † December 24, 1874 in La Force , Périgord ) was a reformed revival preacher and one of the central figures of Réveil in western Switzerland .

Life

After studying theology at the institute of the Moravian Brethren in Neuwied and at the University of Geneva , he was a traveling preacher in Switzerland, Germany and France and in 1825 he became pastor of the Reformed Free Church in Geneva, which he co-founded. 1828 to 1837 he worked as an evangelist in Carouge , where he u. a. 1832 believers' baptism by Samuel Heinrich Fröhlich took place, and was back in the 1840 state church was added. From 1846 to 1848 he worked as a prison chaplain in Melun near Paris .

In 1814, Bost married Jeanne Françoise (called Jenny) Pattay and was able to celebrate the diamond wedding with her in August 1874 . Their son, John Bost , also became a pastor and made a name for himself as a social pioneer.
