Amica ( own spelling AMICA ) was a monthly German women's magazine that dealt with fitness , fashion and wellness . The target group were women under 40 years of age, an issue had around 110 to 140 pages. It was founded in 1996 by the Milchstrasse publishing group , later taken over by Hubert Burda Media and finally discontinued in 2009.

history

The first issue of Amica was published on January 11, 1996 with a circulation of 400,000 copies. The title was intended to establish a new concept for women's magazines on the German-speaking market. In the course of the takeover of the Milchstrasse publishing group by Hubert Burda Media at the turn of the year 2004/2005, Amica also came to the Munich media group. A few months later, Amica underwent a relaunch , the aim of which was primarily to target a younger audience. The magazine was assigned internally to the Bunte People Group around editor-in-chief Patricia Riekel . In 2009 Hubert Burda Media finally announced the hiring of Amica. The crisis in the advertising market was cited as the reason for this step. The circulation sold fell from 256,225 copies in the first quarter of 1998 to 145,260 copies in the first quarter of 2009, a decrease of 43.3 percent. The Amica website was continued.
