Amina Figarova ( Azerbaijani Əminə Fiqarova * 12. October 1966 in Baku ) is from Azerbaijan coming jazz musician ( piano and composition ).

Live and act

Figarova received music lessons from childhood and focused on the piano. She attended the Baku Conservatory where she studied classical piano. She then continued her studies at the jazz department of the Rotterdam Conservatory and at the Berklee College of Music in Boston . Since 1994 she has released various albums. She usually appears in a sextet or septet formation , mostly with the flautist Bart Platteau, her husband. In 2010 she and her group were the only European contribution to the Newport Jazz Festival . She has also performed with Enrico Granafei and with the American All Stars Band (with James Moody , Nathan Davis , Claudio Roditi , Larry Coryell and Wynard Harper). After living in the Netherlands for twenty years, she moved to New York City in 2012 .
