Joseph Chennoth (born October 13, 1943 in Kockamangalam ) is a diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

He was ordained a priest on May 4, 1969 by the Bishop of Tainan , Paul Ch'eng Shih-kuang .

On August 24, 1999, Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Milevum and apostolic nuncio in Chad and the Central African Republic . The episcopal ordination donated him to the Cardinal Secretary of State , Angelo Cardinal Sodano , on 30 October of that year; Co - consecrators were Varkey Vithayathil CSsR , Apostolic Administrator of Ernakulam-Angamaly , and Jean-Louis Pierre Tauran , Secretary of the Section for Relations with States of the State Secretariat .

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on June 15, 2005 as Apostolic Nuncio in Tanzania . On August 15, 2011, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Japan .
