The Ammann Group Holding AG is a Swiss machinery manufacturer , which focuses on the production and marketing of batching plants, machinery and services for the construction industry, with a focus on road construction.
The group of companies employs around 3,400 people and in 2012 generated sales of 960 million Swiss francs. Ammann has been family-owned since it was founded and is now managed by representatives of the fifth and sixth generation under the leadership of Hans-Christian Schneider ( CEO ) and Christoph Lindenmeyer ( Chairman of the Board of Directors ) as the successor to Johann Schneider-Ammann, who was elected to the Federal Council . The group has its legal seat in Bern , but the headquarters are in Langenthal .
history
In 1869, Jakob Ammann founded his own workshop in Switzerland and continuously expanded the product range in the following years. In 1911 Ammann developed the first motorized road roller. After the First World War, in 1931, the first steps were taken abroad and in the same year Ammann signed an agency agreement with Caterpillar for Switzerland.
In 1984 Ammann took over the bankruptcy assets of the Alfelder Eisenwerke in Germany and still produces asphalt mixing plants at their location . Ammann also bought the Duomat company in Germany (manufacturer of light compression equipment) from the bankruptcy assets of the IBH Holding, which went bankrupt in 1983 . In 1989, the Ammann- Yanmar joint venture was founded in France to manufacture compact excavators . Six years later, Ammann took over the German trench roller manufacturer Rammax . In 2005, the production of asphalt mixing plants started at the new location in Shanghai. In the same year, the Czech Stavostroj , which produces heavy tandem rollers , was taken over .

Divisions
Ammann is a manufacturer of asphalt mixing plants and has been producing them for over 100 years. The asphalt mixing plants have been patented since 1908. To date, more than 2,850 plants have been sold worldwide. Ammann also produces concrete mixing plants and is active in processing technology. This includes the areas of gravel and ballast works as well as classifying, conveying and sewage technology. In addition to systems for the manufacture and processing of building materials, Ammann also manufactures light and heavy compaction equipment and road pavers.
