Amphoe Mueang Ratchaburi ( Thai : อำเภอ เมือง ราชบุรี , pronounced: [ampʰɤː mɯaŋ râːtt͡ɕʰábùriː] ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Ratchaburi . Ratchaburi Province is located in the western part of the central region of Thailand .
geography
The neighboring counties are (clockwise from the north): the Amphoe Photharam and Damnoen Saduak in the province of Ratchaburi, Amphoe Bang Khonthi in the province of Samut Songkhram and the Amphoe Wat Phleng , Pak Tho and Chom Bueng in Ratchaburi.
The main water resource of the district is the Mae Nam Mae Klong (Mae Klong River) .
history
The history of this area can be traced back to the town of Khu Bua , a town of the Dvaravati era. It was just a few kilometers south of what is now Ratchaburi . After Khu Bua had been abandoned for about 300 years, King U Thong ( Ramathibodi I ) of Ayutthaya reestablished it near what is now Wat Mahathat. In 1817 the city center was relocated to the opposite bank of the Mae Klong.
The district was one of the five original districts of Monthon Ratchaburi established in 1895 by Phraya Surinthararuchai (Thet Bunnag ) as the first superintendent commissioner . The first administration was in (today's) Amphoe Photharam , but in 1898 it was moved to Tambon Na Mueang.

- Khao Ngu (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เขา งู ) consisting of the parts of the Tambon Chedi Hak, Ko Phlapphla.
- Lak Mueang (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หลักเมือง ) consisting of the complete Tambon Khok Mo, Phong Sawai.
- Huai Chinsi (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ห้วย ชิน สีห์ ) consisting of the complete Tambon Ang Thong.
