Amphoe Wat Phleng ( Thai : อำเภอ วัดเพลง ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Ratchaburi . The Ratchaburi Province is located in the southwestern part of the central region of Thailand .

Neighboring districts (from the southwest clockwise): Amphoe Pak Tho , Mueang Ratchaburi Ratchaburi Province and Amphoe Bang Khonthi and Amphawa of Samut Songkhram .

history

In the past, the district was called "Wat Pradu" because the building of the district administration was in front of the Pradu Monastery ( Wat Pradu ). When the county government was moved to its current position, the district was renamed "Amphoe Mae Nam Om". The administration building was later relocated from Mae Nam Om to Tambon Pak Tho because it was easier to reach there on the railway line. At the same time, the district (Amphoe) was converted into a "branch district" ( King Amphoe ) . It was not until July 17, 1973 that it regained its full amphoe status.

The most important water resource in the district is the Khwae Om River (Mae Nam Khwae Om) , a branch of the Mae Nam Mae Klong (Mae Klong River) .

In Wat Phleng there is a Roman Catholic church, which is old and quite large by Thai standards , Wat Phra Christ Haruethai . It was built from 1880 to 1903.

Wat Phleng (Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล วัดเพลง ) consisting of the parts of the Tambon Ko San Phra, Wat Phleng.

There are also three " tambon administration organizations " ( องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - Tambon Administrative Organizations, TAO)

Ko San Phra (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล เกาะ ศาล พระ ) consisting of parts of the tambon Ko San Phra.
Chom Prathat (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล จอม ประทัด ) consisting of the complete tambon Chom Prathat.
Wat Phleng (Thai: องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล วัดเพลง ) consisting of parts of the Tambon Wat Phleng.
