Amphoe Pak Tho ( Thai : อำเภอ ปากท่อ ) is a district ( amphoe - administrative district) in the province of Ratchaburi . The Ratchaburi Province is located in the central region of Thailand .
geography
Neighboring districts (clockwise from the west): Amphoe Ban Kha , Chom Bueng , Mueang Ratchaburi and Wat Phleng of Ratchaburi Province, Amphoe Amphawa of Samut Songkhram Province and Amphoe Khao Yoi and Nong Ya Plong of Phetchaburi Province .
history
The government separated part of the Amphoe Mueang Ratchaburi around 1900 and established a new district from it, which was called "Tha Nat Wat Pradu" ( ท่า นัด วัด ประดู่ ). The administration building was in front of the Pradu Monastery ( Wat Pradu ) on the Pradu Canal ( Khlong Pradu ) in Tambon Chom Prathat - this place is now part of the Wat Phleng district. The Tambon Pak Tho also belonged to the district . Since the county government was also near the Om River, the district was also called "Maenam Om" ( แม่น้ำ อ้อม ). In the dry season the water level of the Khlong Pradu was too low to be navigable and there were no roads at that time. Therefore, in 1917, the county government was moved near the train station in Tambon Pak Tho. The area around the previous district administration became the Amphoe Wat Phleng.
