The four municipalities of Koserow , Loddin , Ückeritz and Zempin were united in the former administration of the island of Usedom-Mitte (formerly the Ostvorpommern district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ), which had existed since 1992 . The administrative seat was in Koserow.

The Office Insel Usedom-Mitte was dissolved on January 1, 2005 and incorporated into the existing Office Usedom-Süd with the offices Ahlbeck to Stettiner Haff and Am Schmollensee , which were also dissolved .

In the same year, the four municipalities of the former office founded the Usedomer Amber Baths Association with the aim of joint tourist marketing.

The so-called amber beach , which stretches from the municipality boundary from Karlshagen to Ückeritz , is 25 km long and has fine sand. There are some cliffs in this area in addition to the 40 m wide sandy beach.
