The Usedom-Süd office is located in the northeast of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The office was from 1992 originally from the four municipalities Morgenitz, Rankwitz, Stolpe and the city of Usedom. On January 15, 1996, the municipality of Stolpe changed its name to Stolpe on Usedom . Morgenitz was incorporated into Mellenthin on January 1, 2005. On the same day, the Usedom-Süd office was expanded to include the municipalities of the dissolved offices of Ahlbeck to Stettiner Haff , Am Schmollensee and Usedom-Mitte Island . The 15 municipalities of Benz, Dargen, Garz, Kamminke, Korswandt, Koserow, Loddin, Mellenthin, Pudagla, Rankwitz, Stolpe auf Usedom, Ückeritz, Zempin, Zirchow and the city of Usedom (official seat) are in the new office of Usedom-Süd to handle their administrative business united. At the same time, the previously independent municipalities of Ahlbeck and Bansin left their office and since then, together with the previously non-official municipality of Seebad Heringsdorf, they have formed the non-official municipality of Dreikaiserbäder, which was renamed Ostseebad Heringsdorf on January 1, 2006 .

The official area extends from the isthmus of Mittelusedom to a hilly terminal moraine landscape on the southern part of the island of Usedom . It is bordered by the Baltic Sea in the north, the Peenestrom in the west, the Stettiner Haff in the south and Poland in the east. In addition to the surrounding waters, there are also several large inland lakes in the office, such as the Gothensee , the Schmollensee and the Wolgastsee . The Streckelsberg in Koserow ( 60  m above sea level.  HN ) and the Golm in Kamminke ( 69  m above sea level.  HN ) are next to the Zirowberg in Ahlbeck the highest elevations of the island of Usedom. The entire official area is located in the Usedom Island Nature Park .

Tourism on the Baltic Sea, especially in the large seaside resorts, plays an important role economically. Fisheries and agriculture are hardly important anymore, there is hardly any industry.

The federal road 110 (from Anklam to the Polish border), the federal road 111 (from Wolgast to the B 110 near Mellenthin ) and the Ducherow – Heringsdorf – Wolgaster ferry line run through the Usedom-Süd office . Heringsdorf Airport is located in the southeast of the office .

A branch office of the administration is located in Koserow.
