Location of the Lubmin office in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district | ||
The Lubmin office is located in the north of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). The ten municipalities of Kemnitz (near Greifswald), Neu Boltenhagen, Brünzow, Hanshagen, Katzow, Kröslin, Loissin, Lubmin, Rubenow and Wusterhusen have joined forces in the Lubmin office to handle their administrative business. The administrative headquarters are in the seaside resort of Lubmin . The current office of Lubmin was created through the incorporation of the municipality of Kröslin and the municipality of Groß Ernsthof after Rubenow into the office of Lubmin (January 1, 2005).
The official area extends from the city limits of Greifswald and the Danish Wiek along the Baltic Sea ( Greifswalder Bodden ) to the (half) island of Struck and along the Peene River to the city limits of Wolgast in the east. The office is bordered in the south by the offices of Züssow and Am Peenestrom . The two islands Ruden and Greifswalder Oie also belong to the official area . There are no noteworthy surveys in the official area. The extreme northeast of the office belongs to the Usedom Island Nature Park .
Tourism plays a major role in the coastal resorts of Lubmin, Kröslin and Loissin. Agriculture dominates the hinterland. The former Lubmin nuclear power plant was shut down in 1990. Currently around 1000 people are entrusted with the demolition, security and administration. The site of the nuclear power plant is designated as a large industrial and commercial area in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In addition to the interim storage facility for nuclear waste, a new seaport (not yet officially commissioned) has been built in the former outlet canal. There are plans for several new power plants, in particular a planned natural gas route from Russia through the Baltic Sea is to end here. Another Baltic port is located in Vierow (Brünzow municipality).
The federal road 109 (from Greifswald to Anklam ) and the B 111 (from Wolgast to federal motorway 20 ) lead through the south of the Lubmin office .
