The Landhagen office is located in the north of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). On April 3, 1992, the ten municipalities of Dargelin, Diedrichshagen, Hinrichshagen, Levenhagen, Mesekenhagen, Behrenhoff, Dersekow, Neuenkirchen, Wackerow and Weitenhagen joined forces in the Landhagen office to handle their administrative business. As early as 1938 there was a "municipality Landhagen" - it consisted of the municipalities Neuenkirchen, Steffenshagen, Dersekow, Pansow, Hinrichshagen, Levenhagen and Jarmshagen. The administrative center has been in the Neuenkirchen community since 1999. On May 26, 2019, Diedrichshagen was incorporated into Weitenhagen.

The official area extends around the city of Greifswald and the Greifswalder Bodden , along the lowlands of the River Ryck . The office is bounded in the south by the Züssow office , in the north by the Baltic Sea and the city of Greifswald, in the west by the district of Vorpommern-Rügen and in the east by the Lubmin office . There are no significant elevations and lakes in the official area. The two islands Riems and Koos are in front of the office, but they belong to the city of Greifswald.

Tourism, especially due to the proximity to the city of Greifswald and the Baltic Sea, plays a bigger role economically. In the vicinity of the city of Greifswald, some industrial areas were also created.

The federal motorway 20 runs through the south of the Landhagen office . The federal highway 109 (from Greifswald to Anklam ) and the federal highway 96 (from Berlin to Stralsund ) run through the office.
