Location of the Am Peenestrom office in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district | ||
The Amt Am Peenestrom (from 1992 to 2004 Amt Wolgast-Land) is located in the north of the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany). On January 1, 2005, the office was expanded to include the formerly free city of Wolgast and the communities Pulow , Buggenhagen and the city of Lassan from the dissolved Ziethen office . At the same time, the municipality of Kröslin left the Am Peenestrom office and moved to the Lubmin office . The formerly independent community Groß Ernsthof was assigned to the community Rubenow (also in the Lubmin district). On June 7, 2009, the Pulow community was incorporated into the city of Lassan. On January 1, 2012, the municipalities of Buddenhagen and Hohendorf came to Wolgast, so that today seven municipalities are united in the Am Peenestrom office to handle their administrative business. The administrative seat is in the city of Wolgast.
The office area covers the Baltic hinterland along the southwest shore of Peenestrom and the aft water , only the communities Krummin, Lütow and Sauzin and part of Wolgaster urban area located on the northern part of the island of Usedom . The office is bounded in the south by the Anklam-Land and Züssow offices and in the northwest by the Lubmin offices. There are no significant elevations and lakes in the official area, but here are the Peene River and the Achterwasser. The riverside regions are part of the Usedom Island Nature Park .
Economically only agriculture is worth mentioning, tourism also plays a certain, albeit small, role. Larger industrial settlements are only found in Wolgast (shipyard).
The federal road 111 leads from Gützkow to Wolgast through the north of the Am Peenestrom office .
The chief administrative officer of the office is Stefan Weigler, and the mayor of Lassan , Fred Gransow, is the head of the office.
