Ulrichshorst is a district of the municipality of Korswandt on Usedom in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . The street village extends over a length of around 1100 meters from the state road 266 between Korswandt and Zirchow in a westerly direction into the Thurbruch .

history

On the orders of the Prussian King Friedrich II. , Franz Balthasar Schönberg von Brenkenhoff directed the artificial drainage of the Thurbruch from 1772 to obtain pastureland . As ordered by the King, founded Brenkenhoff 1774 on the "Campe to Chorshwant", a rising from the fen headland (as Ulrich Horster threshold referred), a Moor colony . It was carried out by the Szczecin Department Council Ulrich, after whom the colony was named.

In 1776 the place was officially designated for the first time with the name “Ulrichshoff”, then in 1777 with the current name “Ulrichshorst”. 30 families who immigrated from Mecklenburg and Swedish Pomerania were settled in the village , a total of 66 people. The colonists were each given 6 acres of pasture. For this purpose, thatched-roof semi-detached houses were built on the north side of Dorfstrasse. On the opposite side, each colonist got a garden plot. By 1800 three colonist positions were added.

As a compulsory service colonists was the site clearance and keeping free a portion of the stick trench imposed, was discharged via the water from the Thurbruch. Important branches of business were livestock farming, horticulture and peat extraction. With the expansion of the port in Swinoujscie , the city became more and more Ulrichshorster's work and sales area.

In the 1860s Ulrichshorst had 57 houses with 365 residents. In addition to 33 colonist positions, there was a miller who had his windmill near the southeast end of the village, and 17 Büdner .

The structure of the village as a single-line elongated street village, as shown in the Prussian premiere , was preserved until the 20th century. In the measuring table sheet from 1920, farm buildings are drawn in places in the southern garden plots. In the 1960s, an asphalt road was built from Ulrichshorst through the Thurbruch to Reetzow . With the decline in the individual agricultural use of the homesteads since the formation of the agricultural production cooperatives in GDR times or because residents gave up agriculture as a sideline, further residential buildings were built on various properties. These are mainly in the northeastern part of the village and on the road to Ahlbeck . There are also individual residential buildings south of Dorfstrasse.

In 2010 Ulrichshorst had 255 inhabitants.
