history

Shlisselburg Castle

The principality of Minden was divided into five sovereign offices , including the office of Schlüsselburg. The office was in the northeast of the district on both sides of the Weser . In contrast to the other offices, the office in Schlüsselburg was not divided into bailiwick districts. In its centuries of history, the office included u. a. Döhren , Ilserheide , Ilvese , Neuenknick and Seelenfeld .

After the Wars of Liberation , now again under Prussian administration , the office of Schlüsselburg was reduced to include its villages on the right bank of the Weser and continued to exist as the administrative district of Schlüsselburg . In 1832 the administrative district had 1,352 inhabitants, 953 of whom lived in the city of Schluesselburg, 67 in the village of Röden (today a part of Schluesselburg), 205 in Buchholz and 127 in Großenheerse . At that time, Wasserstraße was still part of the city of Schluesselburg.

In 1843 the Prussian office of Schlüsselburg was transformed from the administrative district of Schlüsselburg . It consisted of the city of Schluesselburg and the two communities of Buchholz and Grossenheerse. In 1934 the office was dissolved, with Schlüsselburg to the office of Windheim and Buchholz and Grossenheerse to the office of Petershagen .

After the end of the Thirty Years' War , the castle became the office building and remained so until this administrative unit was dissolved in 1934. The castle itself became the property of the city in 1846.
