District Court Gemünden (Wohra)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The district court of Gemünden was a district court in Gemünden (Wohra) .

prehistory

The Haina Justice Office only existed from 1821 to 1824. After it was dissolved and assigned to the Rosenthal Justice Office, the Ministry of Justice of the Electorate of Hesse ordered that a court day in Gemünden be held once a week for the processes from the former Haina Justice Office. It is unknown how long this was sustained.

history

In 1932 the Rosenthal district court (together with the Rauschenberg district court ) was dissolved and its tasks were distributed to the Frankenberg , Jesberg and Kirchhain district courts .

The city of Gemünden had long sought its own local court. After the seizure of power by the Nazis, she was successful. The law of August 29, 1933 and the ordinance of September 15, 1933 established the district court of Gemünden after the city had agreed to provide a courthouse (address Grüsener Straße 9) free of charge.

In 1943 the court was converted into a branch of the Kirchhain District Court. From 1945 to 1948 it remained completely closed and then reopened as a branch of the Kirchhain District Court. On July 1, 1973 it became a branch of the Frankenberg District Court. In 2004 the Gemünden branch was closed and the tasks and employees relocated to Frankenberg.

The only judge in Gemünden from September 1, 1933 until his military service was District Court Judge Erich Schäfer.
