District court Neustadt bei Coburg

The Neustadt bei Coburg District Court was a district court in the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha , the Free State of Coburg and Bavaria, with its seat in Neustadt bei Coburg .

prehistory

In the HRR , the Neustadt office was the entry court for civil law cases. The Centamt Coburg acted as the entrance court for criminal matters . In 1801, Minister of State Theodor von Kretschmann began to reform the justice system in Saxony-Coburg . The Neustadt Office and the Coburg Center Office were abolished and the Coburg Justice Office became the only sub-court in the mainland of the principality. Against this was directed the unsuccessful protest of the Neustadt citizens, which the previous bailiff Johann Ernst Gruner in particular articulated to the government. The higher middle court was the state government. On December 1, 1803, Kretschmann continued the cautious separation of the judiciary from the administration by separating the judicial function from the state government. Now the judicial deputation was the middle court. on March 5, 1804, the Justice Deputation was renamed "Landesregierung al Justice and Pupillenkollegium and Lehnhof". In 1806 Kretschmann (now in Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld ) went even further and created the appeal court as a middle instance. In 1807 a higher appeal court , the Coburg Higher Appeal Court , was set up (which was quite unusual given the size of the country). Up to now, sending files was used in the third instance . With the end of the Kretschmann government, these courts also ended and were repealed on July 7, 1808.

On January 1, 1807, the Neustadt office was re-established. The Justice College Coburg was superordinate to this. From 1816 the Jena Higher Appeal Court was the highest instance. From 1832 the Justice College Gotha forms a third instance between the Justice College Coburg and the Higher Appeal Court Jena. After the March Revolution in 1849, patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished. This affected six patrimonial courts in the Neustadt district (see courts in the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha ). In 1858 the organization of the courts was revised. Now that was Justice Office Neustadt an der Heyde the District Court Coburg downstream.

The district court

After the introduction of the Reich Justice Laws in 1879, the Neustadt an der Heyde Justice Office was converted into the Neustadt an der Heyde District Court . It was now subordinate to the Meiningen district court . When the city was renamed, the name was changed to Neustadt bei Coburg District Court . After the referendum in 1920 decided to join Bavaria, the district court was subordinated to the Coburg regional court, which was newly established in 1921 . In 1943 the Neustadt bei Coburg District Court was repealed and after its reopening on February 1, 1946, it was converted into a branch of the Coburg District Court .

District Court building

The former district court building at Ernststraße 23 a is now used as a police station. The neoclassical two-storey mansard roof building with a central projectile and Art Nouveau window was built in 1912–1913.
