The district court of Coburg is one of 73 district courts in Bavaria and a court of ordinary jurisdiction . The headquarters, the justice building, is located at Ketschendorfer Strasse 1. Another branch - Justice Building II - is located at Heiligkreuzstrasse 22 in Coburg .

history

The Coburg District Court was founded on April 7, 1879 as one of five district courts in the Duchy of Saxony-Coburg . It comprised the district of the former Coburg Justice Offices I and II. The district court was then housed in the Coburg town hall, with the district court of Meiningen superordinate . In the course of the unification of the Free State of Coburg with the Free State of Bavaria, it was assigned to the newly founded Coburg District Court in 1921 .

Since a new building was required for the old district court building, which was destroyed in World War II, a joint judicial building for the district and district court was planned early on in order to remove the spatial separation. On January 24, 1951, the construction plans and cost estimates were drawn up by the State Ministry of Justice (today the Bavarian State Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection). The old district court building had already stood at the selected location. In April 1954, the public prosecutor moved into the rooms on the ground floor of the not yet completed building prematurely , as they had to give up their previous premises. The district court followed a year later. In 1956 the district court moved completely into the new building. The inauguration took place on March 23, 1957.

Due to the growing business volume and the establishment of the central dunning court in Coburg (ZeMaCo), individual departments were outsourced to the justice building at Heiligkreuzstraße 22. The following departments have been located there since then:

The justice building was remodeled in the 1990s. The conference rooms have been relocated centrally to the side building to make it easier to find the conference rooms. The jury court room was also renovated and technically brought up to date.

Area of responsibility

The jurisdiction of the local court extends over the city of Coburg and the district of Coburg . The district court of Coburg is also an insolvency and foreclosure court as well as a register court ( commercial and association register ) for the district courts of Kronach and Lichtenfels.

The central dunning court is responsible for the judicial dunning procedure if the applicant is based in Bavaria.

Superior courts

The District Court of Coburg is superordinate to the District Court of Coburg , which in turn is superordinate to the Higher Regional Court of Bamberg .
