The district court of Oranienburg is one of 24 district courts in Brandenburg and a court of ordinary jurisdiction .

District Court District

The district of the district court of Oranienburg extends to the cities of Hennigsdorf , Hohen Neuendorf , Kremmen , Oranienburg and Velten as well as the communities of Birkenwerder , Glienicke / Nordbahn , Leegebruch , Mühlenbecker Land and Oberkrämer .

Courthouse

The current district court building at Berliner Straße 38 was built in 1906 according to plans by the royal district building inspector, Baurat Jaffé. With its magnificent baroque facade, it was destroyed in an Allied air raid in 1944 and rebuilt by 1952. The facade was not completely restored. Only the gable in the Renaissance style and the staircase in the baroque style were restored. Behind the courthouse there was a prison that was used as a remand prison and correctional facility. This was connected to the courthouse by an underground passage. After the prison was demolished, the court extension was built there between 2004 and 2008. The main building is a listed building.

Responsibility and duties

The following activities fall under the jurisdiction of the local court: family proceedings, court paying office, land registry, depository office, inheritance proceedings, administrative offense matters, legal petition office, criminal proceedings, guardianship proceedings, witness care office, civil proceedings and foreclosure.

Superior courts

The district court Neuruppin , the Brandenburg Higher Regional Court (in Brandenburg an der Havel ) and the Federal Court of Justice are superordinate in the instance .

Personalities

From 1993 to 2008 Sabine Stachwitz was director of the local court.
