The Anaktuvuk River (also Anukturuk River ) is a 215 km long right tributary of the Colville River in the North Slope in the north of the US state Alaska .

In Inupiaq , the Inupiat language , the name of the river means “place of the cariboucots”, an indication that large herds of caribou pass through here.

It rises in the north of the Brooks range , flows mainly in a northerly direction and flows into the Colville River.

The Kanayut River and the Nanushuk River are the only significant tributaries of the Anaktuvuk River.
