Ancocota (also Villa Hancocota or Jankho Kkota ) is a town in the La Paz department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

Ancocota is the central place of the canton Villa Hancacota in the municipality of Colquiri in the province of Inquisivi . The village is located at an altitude of 4109  m on the south flowing Río Jankho Kkota, which joins six kilometers downstream with the Río Huaylla Uma to the Río Thola Pampa.

Ancocota lies between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Amazon lowlands in the east. The region has a distinctive time-of-day climate in which the mean temperature fluctuations during the day are more pronounced than during the year.

Five kilometers after Lequepalca, at the mouth of the Río Janho Kkota near Thola Pampa / Aranjuez, a dirt road branches off to the north and reaches Ancocota after six kilometers.
