Andeka Gorrotxategi (born in Abadiño , Province of Bizkaia ) is a Basque opera singer with a lyric tenor voice who has won numerous prizes.

Life

Gorrotxategi began his vocal studies with Ana Begoña and is now accompanied by Elisabetta Fiorillo and Francisco Casanova . In the 2008-09 season he sang Mendelssohn's Walpurgisnacht and Faust in Boito's Mefistofele - both games in the Euskalduna Auditorium of Bilbo . After a series of competitions, he made his debut in 2011 - as Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly - first in Novara , then at the Donizetti Bergamo Festival . He sang this role, his star role, in Pamplona in 2012, and finally in 2013 at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice and at the Teatro Bicentenario in León in Mexico, and in 2014 also in Sydney.

His breakthrough in Spain followed in 2012 - with El Gato Montés by Manuel Penella at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid and at the Teatro Calderon in Valladolid. That year, Massenet's Werther sang for the first time in La Plata, Argentina, and Donizetti's Belisario in Bergamo. In 2013 she made her debuts at La Fenice (in Verdi's I masnadieri ), at the Salzburg State Theater (as Werther ), in Seville and Oviedo (in El Gato Montés ), as Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca in the Terme di Caracalla in Rome and in Padua . 2014 saw performances in Madrid and Lisboa, as well as the role debut as Don José in Bizet's Carmen at the Festival of Manaus, and immediately afterwards at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma . In September of this year the singer made his debut as Pollione in Bellini's Norma in Beijing . Upcoming projects will take the artist to Torino and the Saxon State Opera in Dresden for the first time , and again to Madrid.

In the summer of 2015 he made his debut as a singer in the Rosenkavalier at the Salzburg Festival , it was staged by Harry Kupfer and it was conducted by Franz Welser-Möst .
