Anders Dahl-Nielsen (born January 27, 1951 in Aarhus ) is a former Danish handball player and handball coach .

Career

Anders Dahl-Nielsen grew up in Hedensted and he played soccer in the youth department of Velje BK, where Allan Simonsen was a teammate. When the versatile athlete attended Rødkilde Gymnasium, a sports teacher discovered his talent for handball. At the age of 17 he made his debut for the Vejle Idrætsforening handball team, which played in the 2nd division. When he began his studies in Odense, he joined Tarup-Paarup IF, for which he played from 1971 to 1974. Then he ran for Fredericia KFUM . With Fredericia he won the championship in 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979. From 1980 he played at Ribe HK, where he also worked as a player-coach and later ended his active career.

Dahl-Nielsen played a total of 209 international matches for the Danish national team , in which he scored 610 goals. With Denmark he took part in the Olympic Games in 1976 , 1980 and 1984 .

Trainer and functionary

From 1987 to 1992 Dahl-Nielsen was national coach of the Danish men's national team. He then coached the Bundesliga club SG Flensburg-Handewitt between 1993 and 1998 , which won the EHF Cup in 1997 under his leadership . From 1998 to 2004 he coached the Danish first division club Skjern Håndbold , who won the championship in 1999 and the EHF Challenge Cup in 2002 and 2003 . In 2004 Dahl-Nielsen took over the office of sporting director at Skjern and three years later he returned to SG Flensburg-Handewitt to take over the office of sporting director. From 2010 he will hold this office again in Skjern.
