Anders Kallur (born July 6, 1952 in Ludvika ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League from 1979 to 1985 .

Career

Anders Kallur began his career in 1970 in the second division in Sweden with Falun IF . After two years he made his debut in the Swedish first division Elitserien with HC Tunabro , where he played until 1974.

At MoDo Hockey , where Kallur was active from 1974 to 1976, he made the final breakthrough. From 1976 to 1978 he played for Södertälje SK and in the 1978/79 season for Djurgårdens IF before moving to the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League in 1979 . In 1979 he won the gold puck as the best Swedish ice hockey player of the year.

There he experienced the team's most successful years. From 1980 to 1983, the Islanders won the Stanley Cup four times in a row and Anders Kallur and teammate Stefan Persson became the first Swedes to win the Stanley Cup. In 1984 they reached the Stanley Cup final again, but they were defeated by the Edmonton Oilers to Wayne Gretzky , who they had also defeated in the Stanley Cup final the previous year. In 1985, Kallur ended his career. In the 1986/87 season he worked as head coach at the Italian club EV Bruneck .

Kallur took with the Swedish national team at the 1981 Canada Cup in part. During the tournament he played five games, scored three goals and one assist .

During his time with the New York Islanders, Anders Kallur had twins, Jenny and Susanna , who are now successful track and field athletes .
