The Andijon Dam lies on the course of the Qoradaryo ( Kara-Daryja ) river on the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan .

The dam is above the town of Xonobod . It was completed in 1978. Their storage volume is 1750 million m³. The dam is located on the west bank of the reservoir. The Kara-Daryja flows into the eastern bank of the reservoir. A few kilometers further up the river is the town of Ösgön . The reservoir has a large northern bay, into which the Jassy flows, and a large southern bay, into which the Kurschab flows. The dam mainly serves as a water reservoir for irrigation of the agricultural areas downstream. Below the dam, the Shahrixonsoy branches off to the south, while the rest of the water in the river bed of the Qoradaryo flows west.
