Xonobod (formerly Cyrillic Хонобод ; Russian Ханабад / Chanabad ) is a city in the Uzbek part of the Ferghana Valley in the far east of the country in the Andijon province . According to a calculation for 2009, the population is 34,774, the 1989 census showed 24,700. Xonobod is on the right bank of the Qoradaryo .

Former names of the city are Karabagic , Sowetabad (1972 to 1991) and Chanabadski . Since the installation of the Andijon reservoir in 1969, the population of the village has increased significantly.
