Andover is a town in Merrimack County , New Hampshire in the United States .
history
The first settlers came in 1715. The original name was "New Breton", named after the island of Cape Breton Island and its battles between France and Canada . This was then renamed Andover when the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts was finished.
In 1822, Andover got a university, which closed six years later and reopened in 1848, reorganized. In 1874 the Northern Railroad Company built the Potter Place Railroad Station, which is now on the Historic Place Directory and is a history museum.
