András Mohay

András Mohay (* 1978 in Budapest ; † 27. July 2014 near Nagyút ) was a Hungarian jazz - drummer .

Life

Mohay's musical education began at the age of ten when he was taking lessons on classical percussion instruments at a music school . He was later tutored by the jazz drummer Vilmos Jávori. After graduating from high school, he studied drums with Imre Kőszegi and Iván Nesztor at the Franz Liszt Music Academy in Budapest . In 2003 he completed his studies with a diploma.

He played at numerous jazz festivals in Hungary and other European countries, including Belgium , England , Romania , Russia and the Czech Republic . In the field of jazz he was involved in four recording sessions between 2004 and 2011, in the Gábor Bolla Quartet and with the singer Nikoletta Szőke.

Mohay died in a car accident in July 2014.
