André Stéphane Bikey-Amougou (born January 8, 1985 in Douala ) is a Cameroonian football player .

Club career

Bikey began his professional career at the Spanish club Espanyol Barcelona , but could not assert himself there and remained without a competitive appearance for the first team. In 2005 he moved to the Russian club Schinnik Yaroslavl , where the national top club Lokomotiv Moscow immediately noticed him and signed him on July 1, 2005.

Bikey was also unable to finally assert himself at the Russian capital city club, and so - after being frequently subjected to racist insults in the Russian league by opposing fans - he completed a test training session at the English club Reading FC in 2006 during the preparation for the season in Sweden. There he convinced the head coach Steve Coppell even though Bikey saw the red card in the last preparation game against Örgryte IS after a headbutt against his opponent. Reading then agreed with Lokomotiv Moscow to loan the player for a year with an option to buy the player at the end of the loan period.

Bikey expressed a wish for a further commitment in February 2007, this was fulfilled in April and Reading announced the signing of a three-year contract. A transfer fee of one million pounds had to be paid to Moscow.

Bikey scored his first league goal for Reading in August 2007 in a 2-1 home defeat by Chelsea .

National team career

Bikey represents Cameroon on an international level. He played three games at the African Cup of Nations in 2006 , in which he was discovered by Reading, and in 2008 he was also in the squad of the Indomitable Lions . Bikey scored his only goal in the national team's jersey on June 8, 2008 in a 3-0 away win against Mauritius in qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa .
