André Blechschmidt (born January 6, 1957 in Weimar ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and is a member of the Thuringian state parliament .

Life

André Blechschmidt studied Marxism-Leninism at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena from 1977 to 1982 . From 1982 to 1989 he was a member of the Erfurt District Council . One of his tasks was the area of ​​church questions. Blechschmidt was registered as an " unofficial employee with work file" (IMA) by the State Security's espionage administration , but his file is considered to have disappeared. In 1990 he became a research assistant to the council chairman, research assistant to the government representative and organizational manager in the Thuringian State Chancellery . From 1991 to 1999 he was a personal assistant to Klaus Höpcke, member of the state parliament, and from 1999 to 2004 office manager of the PDS state parliamentary group.

He is married and has two children.

Since 2004 he has been a member of the city council of Erfurt . Since then he has also been a member of the Thuringian state parliament; since 2009 by direct mandate for the constituency of Erfurt IV . In the state parliament he is in the committee for science, art and media as well as in the committee for justice, federal and European affairs. For his parliamentary group he is the parliamentary manager, sits on the board and is a specialist spokesman for justice, media and sport.

After Thomas Kemmerich was elected Prime Minister of Thuringia, he insulted the new incumbent as "pure hypocrites". The Landtag President of the Left then apologized to Kemmerich and gave Blechschmidt a call to order.
