André Kluge

André Kluge (born September 21, 1959 in Leipzig ) is a former German cyclist , national champion and junior world champion in cycling .

Athletic career

André Kluge became a member of the ASK children's department in Leipzig in August 1969, and in 1973 he moved to Frankfurt (Oder). Kluge won the team time trial at the UCI Junior World Championships in 1977 (with Thomas Barth , Falk Boden and Olaf Ludwig ). In the individual race of the world championship he was classified as 59th. In 1974 he won his first championship title at the GDR championships in the youth B class team time trial. Another GDR championship title followed in 1975 in the team time trial on the road in the youth B class. In 1979 he won the GDR championship in the team time trial on the road his club, the ASK Frankfurt (Oder) in the performance class of the GDR. In 1978 he started for the national team of the GDR in the Romania Tour (10th place). At his first start in the GDR tour he was 35. In 1979 he was third in the Romania tour. He remained active as a cyclist until August 1982.

Professional

Kluge completed a sports degree at the DHfK in Leipzig. From 1982 to 1990 he was employed as a trainer in the Frankfurt (Oder) district training center and in the BSG Kraftverkehr Frankfurt (Oder) . He then completed further training and worked as an insurance salesman.
