Andre Mairock

Andre Mairock (born April 16, 1902 in Sontheim as Andreas Mairock ; † November 4, 1968 in Günding near Dachau ) published a total of about 40  homeland novels .

Life

Mairock was the second child of the master mason Andreas Mairock and his second wife Regina, geb. Goose ear. His father had acquired the property at Frechenrieder Strasse 16 in Sontheim in 1884 and ran a construction business there. After his father's death in 1916, Mairock had to leave the grammar school in Memmingen and instead began an apprenticeship as a printer at the Feiner printing company, which published the “Memminger Volksblatt”. Due to the bad economic situation, however, he was unable to practice this profession after completing his training.

Therefore, he decided to train as an organist and choir director. He moved to Ulm and attended the music seminar there between 1923 and 1927. After a larynx operation , he had to reorient himself again and first wrote newspaper articles. In 1932 he moved to Dachau and published his first successful novel in 1935 with “Die Falkenhofer”. In 1962 he moved to Günding .

He is buried in the Dachau district of Mitterndorf .
