André painter (* 22. September 1920 in Ortaffa , the Pyrénées-Orientales , † November 2010 ) was a French naval officer of the Navy , who most recently as Rear Admiral (Vice-admiral) from 1975 to 1977 commanding admiral of the Navy Zone Indian Ocean ALINDIEN (Commandant la Zone Maritime Océan India) was.

Life

Sea captain André Maler was in command of the Clemenceau light aircraft carrier between 1969 and 1970 .

After attending school in 1938, André Maler began his officer training as a member of the PROMOTIONS "Francis Garnier" class named after Francis Garnier at the Naval School (École Navale) and after graduating on January 5, 1940, he became a lieutenant at sea (Enseigne de vaisseau de deuxième classe ) and on June 15, 1941 promoted to first lieutenant at sea (Enseigne de vaisseau de première classe) . After various posts as a naval officer, he was promoted to lieutenant captain (Lieutenant de Vaisseau) on April 1, 1947 . He was part of the crew of the light cruiser Jeanne d'Arc between 1952 and 1954 and was promoted to captain of the corvette (Capitaine de Corvette) on August 1, 1955 . As a frigate captain (Capitaine de Frégate) he was between October 1, 1963 and 1964 in command of the destroyer Maillé-Brézé . After his promotion to sea captain (Capitaine de Vaisseau) he acted among other things as the successor to sea captain Jacques Wacrenier from September 30, 1969 until his replacement by sea captain Yvan Scordino on September 11, 1970 as commander of the light aircraft carrier Clemenceau .

After other uses, Maler became flotilla admiral (Contre-amiral) on November 15, 1975, successor to Rear Admiral Jean-Jacques Schweitzer , commanding admiral of the Indian Ocean Marine Zone ALINDIA (Commandant la Zone Maritime Océan India) and held this position until July 11, 1977, whereupon Flotilla Admiral Henri Darrieus became his successor. In this position he was last promoted to Rear Admiral (Vice-amiral) . For his services he was made a Knight of the Legion of Honor .
