Andrés Scotti (* 14. December 1975 as Andrés Scotti Ponce de Leon in Montevideo ) is a football player from Uruguay .

Club career

Andrés Scotti is the brother of soccer player Diego Scotti . He began his career in Uruguay with Independiente Flores. He came to CD Huachipato in Chile in 1998 via Central Español and Montevideo Wanderers . After returning to the Wanderers, a stop at Nacional Montevideo followed . With the Bolsos , he won the national championship in 2002, was one of the key players in the team coached by Daniel Carreño and, alongside Gustavo Munúa and Óscar Morales, had most of the playing time within the team.

In 2003 Scotti moved to the Russian club Rubin Kazan , for whom he played four years. In 2006 he moved to the Argentine league to Argentinos Juniors . From the Clausura 2007 up to and including the Apertura 2009 there are 92 league games recorded for Scotti, in which he scored three times into the opposing goal. He also played eight games (one goal) in the Copa Sudamericana during this period . From January 2010 he played for the Chilean record champions CSD Colo-Colo in defense. With the Chileans he ran from the Apertura 2010 up to and including the Clausura 2011 in 43 games in the Primera División and scored three goals. There were also eleven games in the Copa Libertadores (one goal). In early 2012 he returned to Uruguay and rejoined Nacional Montevideo . At the end of the 2011/12 season he was again with the Bolsos Uruguayan champions. By the end of the 2012/13 season, he ran in this second phase of his club membership 28 times in the top Uruguayan league and scored four goals. Eight appearances in the Copa Libertadores (one goal) are also made for Scotti with the Montevideans. In the 2013/14 season he played 19 more league games (two goals) in the Primera División and played seven games (one goal) in the 2014 Copa Libertadores . After the season he left Nacional. At the end of August 2014 he contracted until July 31, 2015 with the league competitor Defensor Sporting , where he is to replace Nicolás Correa, who is missing with a meniscus injury . In the 2014/15 season he was used there 23 times (one goal). During the Apertura of the 2015/16 season, he played in 13 other top division games (no goal) and eight games (no goal) of the 2015 Copa Sudamericana .

National team

Scotti made his debut on May 21, 2006 in the friendly against Northern Ireland under coach Óscar Tabárez in the Uruguayan senior team . The following year he took part in the 2007 Copa America with Celeste . In 2010 he was part of the Uruguayan squad for the World Cup in South Africa . Here he came to two appearances as a substitute against Mexico in the preliminary round and in the quarter-finals against Ghana. The following year he won the 2011 Copa America with Celeste . Up until his last appearance on September 10, 2013, he had played a total of 40 international matches in which he was able to score a goal (as of September 11, 2013).
