Andre Fernando Santos Martins Cardoso (born September 3, 1984 in Gondomar ) is a Portuguese cyclist .

Athletic career

Andre Cardoso began his international career in 2006 with the Portuguese Continental Team Paredes Rota dos Moveis . At the Algarve Tour in 2006 he finished ninth in the overall ranking. Later at the Tour de l'Avenir he finished fourth on the fourth stage behind the winner Nicolas Roche . Then he started in the U23 road race at the road cycling world championships in Salzburg , which he finished 43rd.

In 2011 Cardoso won a stage of the Tour of Portugal . He has not had any further great successes so far (as of 2017).

On June 27, 2017, it was announced that traces of erythropoietin had been found in the A sample of a doping control outside of a competition on June 18, 2017 . The driver was suspended from the Union Cycliste Internationale until the case was finally resolved and banned on November 15, 2018 until June 26, 2021.
