Andre Mijatović [ ˈandrɛˑ ˈmijatɔʋitɕ ] (born December 3, 1979 in Rijeka ) is a former Croatian football player .

Career

As a player

Mijatović began his professional career as a football player at HNK Rijeka in the summer of 1998 and moved to Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2003 . In 2004 he won the Croatian Cup with Dinamo Zagreb. After his contract expired, the defender moved to SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the 2nd Bundesliga in Germany in July 2005 without a transfer .

After the association had drawn a contract option in 2007 that extended the contract by another year, it had applied for an injunction against this decision at the Nuremberg Labor Court in an urgent application. However, this was rejected, so that the main hearing should take place on August 6th. However, since Mijatović withdrew the lawsuit shortly before the start of the negotiations, there was no further trial.

In June 2007 he moved to the Bundesliga soccer club Arminia Bielefeld for a transfer fee of 700,000 euros . He signed a three-year contract, which was extended early in 2009 to 2012 and included an option for a further year.

For the 2010/11 season he moved to Bundesliga relegated Hertha BSC , where he signed a two-year contract, was appointed captain by Markus Babbel and made his debut on August 14, 2010 in the DFB Cup game against SC Pfullendorf .

After the end of the 2011/12 season , the club announced that new coach Jos Luhukay no longer plans with Mijatović in the new season. On June 9, 2012, FC Ingolstadt 04 announced the commitment of Mijatović for the 2012/13 season . He signed a contract with the Schanzern until June 30, 2014. In 2015 he ended his active career there.

From 1999 to 2001 he played 10 international matches for the Croatian U21 national team.

As a trainer

On October 2, 2017 it was announced that Mijatovic will be the new assistant coach of FC Ingolstadt. He had previously held this position at the Stuttgarter Kickers . On September 22, 2018, he and head coach Stefan Leitl were released after a weak start to the season with just one win out of six games.

At the beginning of February 2019 Leitl took over the second division club SpVgg Greuther Fürth as head coach, again Mijatović became his assistant.
