Andrea Ashworth

Andrea Ashworth (born January 1, 1969 in Manchester , England ) is an English author and literary scholar .

Life

Ashworth grew up with her mother, who married twice after her father died. These stepfathers went on with her for years until the young woman graduated from school and went to Oxford to study . There she attended Hertford College , where she worked as a junior researcher in literature. After a year at Yale University , she stayed in Boston and New York City for some time before returning to Oxford. There she worked at Lincoln College and Wolfson College before becoming a Junior Research Fellow at Jesus College .

In 1998 Ashworth published the story of her traumatic youth with the title Once in a House on Fire , which was awarded the following year and was published in German in 2000.

In 2013 Ashworth was working in Los Angeles , California on a book about the British author Jean Rhys . She lived there with her husband, a law and history professor at the University of California, Los Angeles , whom she met at Princeton University .
