Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler

Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler (born September 13, 1961 in Vöcklabruck ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and insurance employee. Eder-Gitschthaler was a member of the Austrian National Council from 2006 to 2008 . She has been a member of the Federal Council since October 1, 2017, succeeding Josef Saller . In the second half of 2020 she will be President of the second Austrian Chamber of Parliament.

Education and professional career

Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler attended elementary school in Vöcklamarkt between 1968 and 1972 and then the modern language grammar school in Gmunden , where she graduated in 1980. Eder-Gitschthaler then began studying law at the University of Salzburg . She graduated in 1984 with the title Dr. iur. from. Eder-Gitschthaler then completed her legal practice and began her internship in 1985 at the law firm Dr. Zimmermann / Dr Topitsch. In 1986 she moved to the Verein für Vermögensberatung, where she worked until 1988. Between 1990 and 1991 Eder-Gitschthaler was employed at the advertising agency Dworschak & Partner, from 1991 she worked for the Austria-Collegialität ( UNIQA ).

Political career

Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler began her political career in Wals-Siezenheim , where she has represented the ÖVP in the local council since 1999. Since 1999 she has also been a member of the local committee of the ÖVP women and local group chairwoman of the ÖAAB. In 2003 she was promoted to deputy regional chairwoman of the ÖAAB Salzburg and became a member of the district presidency of the ÖAAB Flachau. Furthermore, Eder-Gitschthaler has been a member of the regional party board of the ÖVP Salzburg since 2006, a member of the district party presidium of the ÖVP Flachau and a member of the district board of Tennengau. In 2007 she also took on the role of deputy federal chairwoman of the ÖAAB women and is a board member of the ÖVP women in Salzburg. Eder-Gitschthaler is also active in the Salzburg relief organization and in the “Save the Child” campaign.

On October 30, 2006, Eder-Gitschthaler entered the National Council through a mandate from the Salzburg electoral district, where she represented the ÖVP in the committees on families, culture, the Court of Auditors, the environment and petitions and citizens' initiatives. However, Eder-Gitschthaler resigned from the National Council on October 27, 2008 after the National Council election in 2008.

Private

Andrea Eder-Gitschthaler is married and has two daughters. She lives in Wals-Siezenheim.
