Robert Seeber (born March 21, 1955 in Linz ) is an Austrian tourism entrepreneur and politician ( ÖVP ). Seeber has been a seconded member of the Austrian Federal Council from the state of Upper Austria since 2016 . Seeber acted as President of the Federal Council in the first half of 2020 .

education and profession

Robert Seeber was born on March 21, 1955 in the Upper Austrian capital Linz and attended elementary school there. He then graduated from the Dachsberg mission school and graduated from the Khevenhüller grammar school in Linz in 1974 . After completing his military service with the Austrian Armed Forces , he passed the administrative service examination with the State of Upper Austria with distinction in 1980. He also completed his training as a travel agent and in 1986 the hospitality license examination, where he worked for the Raml travel agency in Linz for fourteen years.

From 1980 onwards, Seeber and his wife Elfriede set up several gastronomic companies in Linz, and subsequently acted as their managing director. In 2009 Seeber was awarded the professional title of Commercial Councilor in recognition of his entrepreneurial achievements .

Political career

In 2009, Robert Seeber was elected regional chairman of the tourism and leisure sector of the Upper Austrian Chamber of Commerce , and since 2014 he has been chairman of the Upper Austrian regional tourism council. In 2014, after being elected to the Chamber of Commerce, he accepted a mandate in the economic parliament of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce .

On July 1, 2016, Seeber was sent as the successor to his party colleague Gottfried Kneifel from the Upper Austrian Landtag as representative of Upper Austria to the Austrian Federal Council in Vienna.

In June 2020, he was elected as the successor to Petra Nocker-Schwarzenbacher as chairman of the tourism and leisure sector of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce for the term of office until 2025. Mario Pulker and Mario Gerber were deputies .
