Andrea Motis (born May 9, 1995 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish jazz musician ( vocals , trumpet , flugelhorn , also saxophone , composition ).

Live and act

Motis began taking music lessons at the age of seven at the Escola Municipal de Música de Sant Andreu in Sant Andreu , a district of Barcelona. She first learned the trumpet, later saxophone and singing lessons were added. At the age of twelve she played in the Sant Andreu Jazz Band , which is led by the teacher and musician Joan Chamorro . At fifteen she was featured with the band on the album Joan Chamorro Presents Andrea Motis . In 2011 she brought Quincy Jones onto the stage with his Global Gumbo All Stars at a festival . Albums with her on Spanish labels followed, such as Live at Jamboree (whereupon she is supported by Scott Hamilton ) and Feeling Good with Joan Chamorro. 2017 followed for the Impulse! -Label the album Emotional Dance . On Do outro lado do azul , Motis dedicates himself to Brazilian songs, but also his own compositions and a hymn by Joan Manuel Serrat .
