Andrea Ott
Andrea Ott (born October 15, 1949 in Munich ) is a German translator. She lives in Landshut .
After working in a library, in the theater and in art house cinema, Andrea Ott concentrated on translating literary texts from the Anglo-Saxon-speaking area from 1986 onwards, with a focus on authors from the 19th and early 20th centuries such as Jane Austen , Charlotte Brontë , Elizabeth Gaskell and Thomas Hardy , Henry James , Upton Sinclair , Anthony Trollope , Edith Wharton , and Evelyn Waugh .
Andrea Ott is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ.
Prizes and awards
- 2010: Working grant from the Free State of Bavaria for the first translation of the novel "Hudson River Bracketed" by Edith Wharton [1929].
- 2013: "Upton Sinclair: Oil!". Book of the month of July by the Darmstadt jury
- 2016: Wilhelm Merton Prize for European Translations, Frankfurt
