Andrea Polaschegg

Andrea Polaschegg (* 1972 in Wesel ) is a German literary and cultural scientist .

Life

Polaschegg was born in Wesel in 1972 and studied modern German literature , German linguistics , oriental studies and Islamic studies in Bochum , Cairo and Berlin from 1991 to 1999 . From 2000 to 2007 she was a research assistant at the Institute for German Literature at the Humboldt University in Berlin ( Ernst Osterkamp chair ). After receiving her doctorate in 2005, she became junior professor for literature and knowledge in the context of the history of religion at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2007 after being appointed to the University of Konstanz and HU Berlin. In the summer semester 2009 and winter semester 2009/10 she represented Albrecht Koschorke's chair in Konstanz .

In addition to the cultural history of German Orientalism , Polaschegg's research interests include theories of alterity, connections between the Bible and literature , the media and genre poetics of the beginning of the text, and the literary and cultural history of the 19th century.

Andrea Polaschegg is a member of the board of the SFB 644 “Transformations of Antiquity” at the HU Berlin, the DFG graduate college 1458 “Typography” at the FU Berlin and the college of the PhD network “Knowledge of Literature” at the Institute for German Literature at the HU Berlin .

In February 2016 , she completed her habilitation in Berlin and was appointed full professor for modern German-language literature at the University of Graz in January 2017 . Since October 2018 she has been Professor of German Studies and General Literature - with a focus on "Media of Literature" - at the University of Siegen .
