Koschorke's first monographic publication dealt with Leopold von Sacher-Masoch and the interaction between literature and eroticism. Here he already developed his interest in how the medium of literature works in a broader cultural studies context. His dissertation on "the history of the horizon" (published in 1990) combines literary and art studies. She undertakes a Tour d'Horizon from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. His habilitation thesis Body Streams and Correspondence (published in 1999) is theoretically based on the media theoretical work of Friedrich Kittler and Jacques Derrida . It represents an attempt to describe the writing culture of the 18th century as a radical change in the history of the communication media: While communication is increasingly being written, the “distancing” medium of writing becomes a permeable carrier of feelings. The medical theories of the time played an important role in the development of the culture of writing and feeling in sensitivity . In the work The Holy Family and its Consequences (2000), Koschorke dealt with the theme of the Holy Family in the culture of the Christian West in terms of cultural history . Koschorke shows that this family structure was fundamental for understanding father-mother-child relationships in theory and art and that it still shapes modern myths like the Star Wars saga. More recent works, such as the joint publication Des Kaiser's New Dresses, are devoted to questions of the politically imaginary. This interest is pursued in The Fictional State.
