Andreadoxa flava is a rare tree in the diamond family, it is endemic to the eastern Brazilian state of Bahia . It is the only species in the genus Andreadoxa .

description

Andreadoxa flava grows as a tree to about 10–15 meters high. The trunk diameter reaches up to 30 centimeters. The bark is grayish and rough.

The mostly alternate, pinnate leaves are short stalked and with only one leaflet (unifoliolate). The petiole is about 1.5–5 inches long. The entire, egg-shaped, lanceolate to elliptical and papery leaflets are glabrous and 13-25 centimeters long and 5-10 centimeters wide. They are rounded to pointed at the tip. The leaflets are dotted with glands, visible from below.

Terminal or axillary, smaller thyrses are formed at the branch ends. The yellowish-white, five petals are stalked short and double perianth . The small, about 2 millimeters large and bald calyx is cup-shaped and weakly lobed. The obscure to spatulate 5 free petals are about 1.5–2 centimeters long and hairy in the lower part. There are 2 stamens and 5 long, hairy, slightly club-shaped, glandular, about 1.5 cm long staminodes. Two staminodes are attached to the bottom of the petals. The free stamens have broader, trowel-shaped, flattened and hairy stamens in the lower part and the two elongated and upright, glandular anthers of the individual stamens are fused together. The bald, glandular ovary , with five free carpels , is above and enveloped by the cup-shaped, bald discus . The short, gynobasische stylus is wrong-conical, with a lobed, broad-strong scar .

Roundish to ellipsoidal, single-seeded, up to 1.5-2.5 centimeters long, slightly uneven, bare follicles with a permanent calyx are formed. Usually only one fruit is formed per flower, but several can appear in a pod . The somewhat flattened, roughly ellipsoidal, brown and smooth seeds are up to 1.5 centimeters long with a thin, papery seed coat . The cotyledons are folded.
