The Andreae-Gymnasium is one of two general high schools in Herrenberg , a large district town in the Boeblingen district in Baden-Württemberg , named after the theologian, writer and mathematician Johann Valentin Andreae (1586-1654) who was born in Herrenberg . The school authority is the city of Herrenberg. In the school year 2004/2005 1034 pupils attended the grammar school, who were taught by about 100 teachers; meanwhile the number of pupils has decreased to approx. 770 (as of 2017-2019).

history

Until 1978 the school was a branch of the older Schickhardt high school . The first headmaster was Hubert Molls until 2005.

In 2002, the Friends and Alumni Association of the Andreae-Gymnasium (EfA) was brought back to life in order to promote the solidarity of former students, teachers and other people with the school and to support the educational work at the school.

In 2001 an extension was built. This includes science rooms, a multimedia room and classrooms. From 2003 to 2004, the outdoor facilities were redesigned as part of the Moving School project , creating more exercise options and seating, especially on the meadow between the school and the outdoor sports facilities. In 2008 the Markweg school center was expanded to include a cafeteria. From 2009 to 2011 the outdoor area was redesigned again. A new sports hall was also built.

Since the 2006/2007 school year, attempts have been made to only allow lessons to take place in double periods. During this time, the teachers are free to choose the break so that there is no break in the middle of a topic.

There has been a bilingual English train at the AGH since the 2016/2017 school year.

The school is the training school of the State Seminar for Didactics and Teacher Training (Gymnasien) Tübingen in Tübingen . It has its own weather station, which delivers current measured values to various radio stations and newspapers.

Since 1986, the grammar school has carried out regular student exchanges with Saint-Petersburg , Russia , the Collège Marie Laurencin in the twin town of Tarare , France , and the Hinchingbrooke School in Huntingdon , England , as well as with schools in Bari , Italy (until the end of the 2000s ) and Wieliczka , Poland .

Projects

In July 2001, both Herrenberg high schools organized a project School as State , in which the pupils simulated a state with its institutions and companies. The state was called "Gäurasien".

In the summer of 2009, another one-week school-as-state project took place at the Andreae-Gymnasium. The state was called "Andreapolis" and had the currency "Andron".

A homecoming week took place at the end of the 2011/12 school year. There was a motto every day. The students have dressed to match the motto and the SMV has prepared suitable games for the breaks.

Project days were held at the end of the school year in the 2012/13 and 2014/15 school years. Here the students could register for a wide variety of projects, each with a motto. The project days were organized by a working group of the SMV of the Andreae-Gymnasium.

At the end of the 2015/16 school year, the School as State project took place again . This time the state was called "San Andreae", the currency was the "Schelling".

At the end of the 2016/17 school year, the SMV organized project days on the topic of “Colorful around the world”.
