Andreas Brandstetter (born June 23, 1969 ) was Chairman of the Board of Management of Uniqa Insurance Group AG until May 2020 .

Life

He grew up in Schönberg am Kamp and studied political science and history at the University of Vienna from 1988 to 1992 . For his doctorate (1992-1994) he received a scholarship to the University of California, San Diego . From 1997 to 2002 he completed an MBA (Master of Business Administration) degree at California State University, Hayward and IMADEC in Vienna.

In 1993 he completed a period as a trainee in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. He then worked in the Federal Chancellery in the office of Vice Chancellor Erhard Busek .

From 1994 to 1995 he was General Manager of the Austrian People's Party and then took over the management of the EU office of the Austrian Raiffeisen Association .

From 1997 he worked as assistant to the general director of BARC Versicherungs-Holding AG / Uniqa Versicherungen AG. In 2000 he moved to the post of Secretary General and in 2002 became a deputy member of the board responsible for international markets.

In 2003 he became a member of the board of Uniqa Versicherungen AG and was responsible for New Markets, Bancassurance and Mergers & Acquisitions . From 2009 he was deputy chairman of the board.

Since July 1, 2011, he has been CEO of Uniqa Insurance Group AG. From July 2011 to May 2016 he was responsible for Investor Relations, Group Communication, Group Marketing, Group Human Resources, Group Internal Audit, Group General Secretary . In 2018, he took second place in the ranking of Austria's 1000 top managers, compiled annually by the Austrian industrial magazine. From June 2016 he was responsible for the areas of Innovation, Asset Management (group-wide), Investor Relations, Group Communication, Group Marketing, Group Human Resources, Group Internal Audit, Group General Secretary . Since January 1, 2020, Brandstetter has been Chairman of the Management Board (CEO) responsible for the areas of Innovation, Strategy & Transformation, New Business Areas (Health), Group General Secretary, Revision, Art Insurance . In May 2020 he handed over this position to Supervisory Board Burkhard Gantenbein.

From March 2013 to April 2015 Brandstetter was a member of the supervisory board of the French reinsurer SCOR SE .

In May 2018, he was elected President for a three-year term by the General Assembly of Insurance Europe , the lobby group for European insurance and reinsurance companies.

Andreas Brandstetter lives in Vienna and is the father of three children.
