Andreas Franzke

Andreas Franzke (born September 27, 1938 in Breslau ) is a German art historian and former rector of the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe .

Life

In 1946 he and his mother moved from Breslau to Nordhorn . An apprenticeship as an industrial clerk was followed from 1961 to 1968 by studying art history , Christian archeology and German at the universities of Marburg , Heidelberg and Würzburg . After receiving his doctorate , he worked as an assistant and research assistant. In 1972 he became a lecturer in art history at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe , where he subsequently taught art history as a professor until 2004 and also held the position of rector from 1988 to 2000. 1985/86 he was a guest lecturer at the university of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He was a member of the Franco-German Cultural Council from 1985 to 2004 and received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1998 and the Order of Officiers des Arts et Lettres in 1999. In 2004 he retired as emeritus .
