Andreas Heydel

Andreas Heydel (born January 7, 1954 in Gersdorf ) is a former German soccer player. Between 1974 and 1983 he played for FC Karl-Marx-Stadt in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . Heydel is a multiple young national player.

Athletic career

Heydel began to play organized football in 1963 at the company sports community (BSG) Einheit in Gersdorf, Saxony. In 1968, at the age of 14, he was delegated to the regional football focus, the upper division club FC Karl-Marx-Stadt. He played his first men's games in 1972/73 with the second team of FCK in the second-rate GDR league . At the age of 18, he was already a member of the team because he played 20 of the 22 games in the league. After he had only been used in 13 GDR league games in 1973/74, the 2nd team was relegated and Heydel began the 1974/75 season with FCK II, initially in the third-rate district league .

When the left defender of the league team, Christoph Franke , injured himself for a long time on matchday 12, coach Gerhard Hofmann brought Heydel into the team, where he took over the position of left defender in twelve league games until the end of the season. In the following season 1975/76 Heydel was finally a regular player in the league. By 1979 he played 97 of 104 point games, where he always occupied the left defensive side. He scored his first of four league goals on the 6th matchday of the 1976/77 season when he scored the 2-0 final score for FCK in the home game against 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig .

Heydel had already been accepted into the squad of the GDR youth national team in autumn 1975 . By May 1976 he played six internationals, in which he was also used as a defender.

On the first day of the 1979/80 season, Heydel was injured so badly in the 13th minute that he was out for the rest of the season. Between the second half of 1980/81 and the first half of 1981/82 Heydel returned again with regular appearances in the league team, 1982/83 he played three more times in the league. Only on the 15th matchday he was used for the full duration. It was his 130th league game for FC Karl-Marxt-Stadt. At the end of the season, the club management announced that Andreas Heydel had ended his footballing career for health reasons.
